What to wear to a newborn session?
KEEP IT SIMPLE!
Find your color scheme and try to keep your colors consistent! Neutral is always a safe timeless option. Most clients want to display the family portrait proudly in their home, which means you need to think about how the colors will flow with the colors in the room. I want to create art that will beautifully go on display in your home. I want you to be able to enjoy this moment each time you pass it hanging on the wall.
Let’s start with dressing the kids! Below are a few examples of the most common sibling pose and some examples of what they wore. You will notice they are not wearing anything that is too busy which would distract you from their sweet faces. :)
Next let’s talk about what Mom needs to think about when deciding what to wear! The most important thing is that it’s not too tight. You are likely self-conscious about your midsection, so try to find a flowy top that will not cling to your belly. If you are worried about your arms, I suggest something with a sleeve. Below are a few examples of some gorgeous Moms who did a great job finding some thing flattering to wear! For more examples scroll down to the family pictures! ;)
Dads can either go with a well fitted black or white t-shirt, solid polo, or button up. The main thing here is to avoid certain plaid shirts as they can be hard to photograph. Below are a few examples to give you a visual. Most of my clients go with the grey backdrop but I have started offering the white and I think it looks really nice as well!
Now lets see how it all looks together! And for those who have more than one older sibling I have included some examples just for you! ;)
